Ramblings about the library

So there are a few things that confuse me about books that i see in the library, now that i'm seeing all of the books on a regular basis.

1. I do not at all understand the choices that the librarians in charge of cataloging make. Sometimes there will be a book series, and half of the books will be under one thing and half under another thing, and that shouldn't be possible because they're all by the same person, but! For example, the Percy Jackson series of Graphic Novels - some are under the artist who illustrated the book and some are under Rick Riordan. Why? And Jenny Lawson's books, which are humorous memoirs, are filed right next to the books about an unofficial guide for Nook on one side and the best headlines in newspapers on the other side. Meanwhile, other humorous memoirs like Tina Fey are found 700 call numbers away, and then still other ones like Mindy Kaling are another 100 numbers down from that. No sense at all.

2. There are a LOT of adult fiction novels about Christmas. I understand kids books about Christmas and movies about Christmas, but i find it surprising that there are that many books for adults. Do people read Christmas books year-round? Or do they read a lot of Christmas novels at Christmastime? I just never would have thought about doing that.

3. Okay, so i know that there are definitely differences between boys and girls. I get that. But there are a LOT of books like this:
And why do men and women need different cookbooks? Or like this:
Are mechanics different if you're a boy than if you're a girl? And there are enough of them that it makes me start to roll my eyes and bristle a little bit.
